Ethics is a vital component of any business school education.  The College of Business established the Business Ethics Symposium to allow students, faculty, business and community leaders to engage in an ongoing dialogue about the practice of business ethics and the role of moral wisdom for corporate social responsibility.

The Role of Ethics in the Financial Meltdown

The UTSA College of Business will host a business ethics symposium on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The theme of this year's symposium is "The Role of Ethics in the Financial Meltdown."

The symposium will begin at 9:30 a.m. with an academic presentation on business ethics. The keynote speaker will be Patricia Diaz-Dennis, former senior vice president and general counsel at AT&T. Diaz was responsible for all legal advice and assistance at AT&T. She was appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate to three federal government positions. President Bush appointed her assistant secretary of state for human rights and humanitarian affairs in 1992. President Reagan appointed her as a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission and she served from 1986 until 1989. She will present at 11 a.m.

The symposium will conclude at 2 p.m. with a panel discussion featuring business practitioners and their personal experiences. All sessions are free and open to the public and will be held in the Richard S. Liu Auditorium in the Business Building on the Main Campus.
