Ron Sweet brings a practitioner’s expertise to finance, having worked over 23 years in several corporate finance and accounting departments, where he was responsible for developing and implementing investment, capital management and risk management strategies for insurance, bank, real estate, and retail enterprises.
Additionally, he was responsible for the investments backing several employment benefit plans. In those capacities, he was responsible for coordinating strategies for over $35 billion in investments for a Fortune 1,000 financial services enterprise, retiring in 2009 to focus on his charitable work.
For the past 11 years, he has combined his practical business experiences with the latest financial theories to teach finance and risk management courses at UTSA. He received his MBA from UTSA, a BBA in accounting and a BA in music theory from UT-Austin and holds CFA, CPA and several other finance-related designations.
