Big Data refers to data sets that are so large and complex that traditional information technology and analytical techniques are inadequate in today's data driven environment.
The ability to extract value from data results in competitive advantage, strategic business intelligence, enhanced forecasting and improved decision making.
One of the biggest challenges in this industry is the lack of well-rounded analytics professionals in this field.
The UTSA College of Business launched a new one-year Master of Science in Data Analytics degree program in Fall 2016 to the Texas market. This program produces highly-skilled and educated data analysts who can transform Big Data into usable information for decision makers across a variety of disciplines including business, healthcare and national security.
Daytime and evening lockstep programs focus on traditional business intelligence oriented analytics as well as provide students specialized expertise in the areas of data science management and data analytic algorithms. Students learn to analyze data sets and develop communication and visualization techniques to share these insights within organizations.
Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2017.
