UTSA's Ph.D. in Business Administration includes emphases in five traditional business areas: accounting, finance, information technology, marketing, and organization and management studies. The primary focus of the program is to prepare qualified candidates for academic careers in teaching and research, graduates are also qualified to hold government and industry positions. As reported in a recent article from Newsline, the market for business Ph.D.'s is strong. Data suggests that there will be a robust demand for faculty in schools of business for at least the next 15 years. These projections by business deans indicate that students who matriculate now will graduate at a time of increased demand.

UTSA is positioned to become one of the top-tier research universities in Texas. Established in 1969 as a comprehensive metropolitan university, UTSA has grown rapidly (to almost 30,000 students) and now offers 21 Ph.D. programs, over 46 master's and 64 undergraduate degrees.
