Alfonso Tomita to Present UTSA College of Business Frost Distinguished Lecture April 22

Alfonso Tomita(San Antonio)—Alfonso Tomita, president of Sushi Zushi, Inc., will present the keynote address during The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business Frost Distinguished Lecture.  The lecture begins at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22 in the Richard S. Liu Auditorium (2.01.02) in the Business Building on the UTSA Main Campus.  The event is free and open to the public.

Born in Mexico City, Alfonso Tsuyoshi Tomita established Sushi Zushi, a chain of Japanese restaurants, in May 2001.  His career has included stints in retailing, education, publishing and most recently the restaurant industry. 

The son of a Japanese entrepreneur, Tomita received a bachelor’s degree in finance from National University in 1986 and an MBA from UTSA in 2001.  Tomita’s multicultural background has prepared him to do business internationally.  Before moving to San Antonio in 2001, Alfonso lived four years in Tokyo where he headed the Japanese subsidiary of Encyclopedia Britannica.

Tomita currently serves as president of the Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos.  The AEM is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs build successful businesses in the United States. Tomita lives in San Antonio with his family.

The Frost Distinguished Lecture Series brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business community.  The lecture series, which began in 1988, presents a forum for business leaders and academics to share their experiences in business so that students can broaden their understanding of the business world and the individuals who lead it.
