Lanham Napier, president and chief executive officer of Rackspace, will present the keynote address during The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business Frost Distinguished Lecture. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in the Richard S. Liu Auditorium in the Business Building on the UTSA 1604 Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Rackspace, founded in 1998, is a world leader in hosting. Delivering enterprise-level managed services to businesses of all sizes and types, Rackspace integrates the industry's best technologies and practices to achieve each customer's specific needs.
Napier joined Rackspace as chief financial officer in April 2000, just a few short months before the technology industry hit rock bottom. He is largely credited by Rackspace's own management team with setting the company on its current path to profitability and success.
Serving as chief executive officer since 2006 and president since 2001, Napier has seen the company grow from less than 100 employees to more than 2,000 and from a single data center to eight facilities located in Texas, Washington, D.C. , and London.
Immediately after joining Rackspace, Napier recognized that customer service was at the very core of Rackspace's business and helped introduce the “fanatical customer support†culture for which Rackspace is known today.
Prior to his career at Rackspace, Napier worked as an analyst for Merrill Lynch and Co. and served as director for Silver Brands Partners, a San Antonio investment firm. Napier holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Rice University and a MBA from Harvard University.
