Dr.
Robert Cardy, professor of management, leads the Department of Management. His research focuses on human resource
management, particularly in the areas of performance appraisal and the effective management of people. His work in management
focuses on merging human resource management practices with the contemporary organizational environment.
A respected researcher, Dr. Cardy has published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior
and Human Decision Processes, and the Journal of Management, among others.
He is a member of the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Society, the Society for Industrial
and Organizational Psychology, the Southern Management Association and the Western Academy of Management. He has consulted
with a variety of organizations, particularly in the areas of performance appraisal and competency model development and
implementation.
He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree from Central Michigan University and a doctorate from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University.
