UTSA's Cyber Security Program Ranked No. 1 in Nation

UTSA's cyber security program has been ranked the best in the nation, according to a national survey of certified information technology security professionals. “This number one ranking confirms our reputation as the leading institution for education and research in cyber security,” said Yoris Au, chairman of the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security in the UTSA College of Business. “It also recognizes the hard work our faculty and students have put into the program since its inception more than a decade ago in the College of Business.” Within the College of Business more than 150 students major in cyber security at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels.

Martin Salinas Named Accounting Alumnus of the Year

Martin Salinas Jr., ’94 was named the 2014 Outstanding Accounting Alumnus during the Department of Accounting's annual Accounting Stars luncheon. Salinas was honored for his professional accomplishments in the field of accounting, his continued support of the UTSA College of Business Department of Accounting and his service to the community. Salinas is chief financial officer at Energy Transfer Partners. Always willing to give back to his alma mater, Salinas serves as a guest speaker in accounting classes, volunteers at College of Business events and supports an internship program at Energy Transfer Partners that provides opportunities for UTSA accounting students.

Marketing Researcher Studies How Hormones Affect Economic Decisions

Recent research from Kristina Durante, assistant professor of marketing, and colleagues from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management studied how hormone fluctuations in women alter economic decision making. The study, Money, Status and the Ovulatory Cycle, was published in the Journal of Marketing Research, an elite marketing journal. Based on studies rooted in theory and research in evolutionary biology and evolutionary consumer behavior, Durante's research could have important implications for marketers, consumers and researchers.

Annual Accounting Scholarship Golf Tournament May 16

Get into the swing of things by participating in the 22nd annual Kathleen R. Keil Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament hosted by the UTSA Department of Accounting. The tournament will be held at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 16. All proceeds benefit student scholarships. The tournament was established in memoriam to honor Kathleen Reymann Keil, '85, founding president of the college's Beta Alpha Psi chapter. Sponsorship opportunities are still available as well as foursome and individual player registration.
