Executive Education Leadership Change

After serving as the college’s associate dean of executive education for more than 15 years, Robert Lengel has decided to step away from his current administrative duties to pursue his work in creative leadership. In support of this transition, Lengel has been named executive director of the newly-established Academy of Leadership and Transformation. Cheryl Linthicum, professor of accounting, has been named associate dean of MBA programs and executive education and director of the Center for Professional Excellence in the College of Business. ¬†She is responsible for curriculum development and oversight of the college’s EMBA and MBA programs as well as the promotion of non-degree executive programming.

Hamid Beladi
Beladi Receives President's Distinguished Achievement Award

Hamid Beladi, associate dean of research in the College of Business, was named a recipient of the President’s Distinguished Achievement Award for Advancing Globalization. “It is a real honor for me to receive this award,” said Beladi, who teaches international economics and international trade and finance. “Globalization has become an indispensable part of the curriculum at every major research university. Faculty members do the work they love every day, but by receiving recognition, it makes it so much more rewarding.” A professor of economics, Beladi is a renowned researcher with more than 200 published articles in peer-reviewed academic journals. He is a recognized leader in the field of international economics.

Accounting Golf Tournament
Register for Annual Accounting Golf Tournament May 16

Get into the swing of things by participating in the 22nd annual Kathleen R. Keil Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament hosted by the UTSA Department of Accounting. The tournament will be held at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 16. All proceeds benefit student scholarships. The tournament was established in memoriam to honor Kathleen Reymann Keil, '85, founding president of the college's Beta Alpha Psi chapter. Sponsorship opportunities are still available as well as foursome and individual player registration.

Red McCombs
Red McCombs Shares His Wisdom with Business Students

Red McCombs, chairman and founder of McCombs Enterprises, shared his wisdom with business students during the college's Frost Distinguished Lecture Series in March. To an overflowing audience, McCombs offered some stories from his past and expressed his excitement for speaking with the students. "When you put your head on your pillow every night, I want you to be excited about what you learned today. The people who made it possible for you to be here, expect you to do it better and faster for the betterment of mankind."
