Wm. Gerard (Gerry) Sanders
College of Business Names New Dean

Wm. Gerard (Gerry) Sanders, professor of strategic management at Rice University, has been named dean and Bodenstedt Chair of the UTSA College of Business. A leading researcher in corporate governance, Sanders has been a faculty member at Rice University since 2008 and previously served as a department chair and faculty member at Brigham Young University. Prior to entering academia Sanders spent more than a decade working in institutional commercial real estate investment with Equitec Financial Group, Bechtel Investments and The Koll Company. He will begin his duties July 1, 2013.

Eight Faculty Named Dean's Distinguished Fellows

Recognizing outstanding leadership and service to the UTSA College of Business, eight faculty members were named Dean’s Distinguished Fellows. The inaugural fellows awards were established to support prominent faculty members who are actively contributing to the mission of the College of Business and UTSA. The fellows are Karan Bhanot, finance; Jeff Boone, accounting; Cynthia Lengnick-Hall, management; Mark Lengnick-Hall, management; Pamela Smith, accounting; Lila Truett, economics; John Wald, finance; and Keying Ye, statistics.

CITE $100K Technology Venture Competition
Students Put Their Entrepreneurship Skills to the Test
in $100K Technology Venture Competition April 30

Ten UTSA teams comprised of business and engineering students will compete in the $100,000 Student Technology Venture Competition, hosted by the UTSA Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE). The teams will be judged by local academic, business and entrepreneurial experts on their technology, business plan and presentation. At the close of the daylong competition, the winning teams will have the opportunity to pitch their companies to potential investors.

Accounting Golf Tournament

Get into the swing of things by participating in the 21st annual Kathleen R. Keil Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament hosted by the UTSA Department of Accounting. The tournament will be held on Friday, May 10, and all proceeds benefit student scholarships. More than $36,000 was raised last year for student scholarships. Sponsorship opportunities are still available as well as foursome and individual player registration.
